We represent all aspects of Information Technology. Our members often
seek out other associations that represent their specific areas of
interest as well; in fact, we encourage this interaction. We are made up
of IT practitioners, managers, consultants, marketers, recruiters and
other functional areas which must understand and keep abreast of the
constantly changing dynamics of this profession.
We also recognize our profession needs further definition and we support efforts to establish professional certification, both by our national association and by other organizations in our profession. We believe in networking within the profession. This includes informally assisting individuals as well as companies in linking with others who can share expertise relating to common challenges. We do not allow any direct marketing, sales or recruiting efforts to take place during our activities as an association. Although we welcome all those who consider themselves members of this profession, our efforts focus on business application of technology (as opposed to scientific or military, etc.). Most of our programs represent topics important to all those who fall into this category, from management techniques to general discussions of trends in technology, to discussions of evolving professional standards, rather than focusing on any single platform, language or niche. In addition to all these noteworthy purposes, we want to make sure every member considers the Kansas City chapter of AITP a good place to come and have some fun. |
